Starlink Internet Company Overview
Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by SpaceX, providing satellite Internet access coverage to over 56 countries. It also aims for global mobile phone service after 2023. SpaceX started launching Starlink satellites in 2019. As of May 2023, Starlink consists of over 4,000 mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), which communicate with designated ground transceivers. Notable investors in SpaceX, and indirectly in Starlink include, the Federal Government (85% ownership) Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, Fidelity Investments, Alphabet Inc., Baillie Gifford, and Valor Equity Partners. Starlink has won nearly $900 million in FCC subsidies to support rural broadband customers through the company's Starlink satellite internet network. Elon Musk had been supplying internet connectivity in Ukraine through SpaceX's Starlink for free.
